Elevations 5 and 6 at The Village at Loomis

The Village at Loomis will create an integrated and dynamic mix of shops, work places, housing, civic space and open space for the Loomis town center area. Long envisioned by the town and shaped by significant community input, a key objective is to have a pedestrian-oriented neighborhood to encourage residents to leave their cars at home and walk to shopping, work or school. The project will consist of a village-themed retail center, including shops and restaurants, professional office uses and various housing styles, as well as a linked system of trails, open space and sidewalks. It maintains and will be consistent with the cherished small-town character of Loomis. The Village at Loomis will enhance downtown Loomis as a focal point for shopping and services.

The project consists of an assemblage of seven parcels previously under multiple ownerships, comprising a total of 54 acres located in an undeveloped infill location in the town center area of Loomis. At buildout, the mixed use project will consist of approximately 140 single-family detached units, 180 single-family attached units, 12 live-work units, 75 multiple-family units, a 50,000-square foot retail center, 35,000 square feet of professional office uses, parks and open space.

The Village at Loomis incorporates the significant architectural styles and elements of the town, such as Bungalow, Craftsmen, Cottage and Farmhouse styles. Village at Loomis Retail

The Executive Director of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) called The Village at Loomis “a home run.” SACOG has led the region to think creatively about smart, sustainable development and The Village at Loomis represents the best of these smart development goals.

Shortly after submitting the project application, a joint hearing of the town council and planning commission was held to solicit public comment and to obtain direction from the local decisionmaking bodies. The town council and planning commission each voted 5-0 to proceed with the project application. The entitlement process has begun and construction of the first phase may begin in spring 2014.

“The Village at Loomis intelligently promotes smart growth Blueprint principles, walkability, mixed uses, compact development, diversity of housing choices, a high quality of design, use of existing infrastructure and conservation of natural resources. Lowell Development's The Village at Loomis is a home run.”
